Learned on his father’s roof. Doing it his own way.
Christian grew up in his father’s roofing business. He learned the trade the only way you really can: on the ladder, on the roof, watching what shortcuts cost you three winters later.
In 2025 he broke off and started Patriot to run it his own way — slower, cleaner, and built on the kind of detail most contractors in the Des Moines metro do not bother with. No high-pressure quotes. No corner-cutting. Just the work.

Granger, IA · Spring 2025
Full Roof + Attic Insulation Upgrade
Full tear-off down to the deck, synthetic underlayment, GAF Timberline HDZ architectural shingles rated for 130 mph wind, and a complete attic blow to R-49 cellulose in the same visit. The homeowner had been chasing a recurring ice dam along the north eave for years. Doing the roof and the attic together is what finally closed it out — an ice dam is a heat-loss problem wearing a roofing costume.

Seamless Gutters + Fascia Repair
6-inch K-style seamless aluminium, custom-run on site to the exact length of each fascia run. Two sections of rotted wood fascia were replaced before anything was hung — new gutter on bad wood is a callback waiting to happen. Leaf guard along the north roofline where the oak drop is worst. The whole job ran in a single afternoon.

Gutter Replacement + Downspout Redirect
Drainage water had been flooding the homeowner’s side garden in every storm. We diagnosed it as pitch problems plus downspouts that were far too short, re-hung the full north and east runs, extended the downspouts ten feet clear of the foundation, and re-graded one splash zone. No more flooding.

New-Build Roof Installation
Partnered with a local builder to close out a new-construction home on schedule. A 32-square architectural shingle install with full ice-and-water shield along the eaves. Dry-in was completed in a single day so framing could stay on its dry timeline.

How much does a gutter or insulation job cost?
Every house is different, so every quote is free and written. Turnaround on a written quote is 48 hours or less, with line items for materials, labour, timeline, and warranty. If something in it does not make sense, you call Christian directly and he walks you through it.
What areas do you serve?

Do you do insulation as well as gutters?
Yes — insulation is a full trade for us, not an add-on. Blown-in, fiberglass, cellulose, and spray foam, plus air sealing, attic work, basement and rim-joist systems, and removal of old or contaminated material. Air sealing goes first: insulation slows heat through a material, but it does nothing about air going around it.

Yes. Patriot Gutters and Insulation is a licensed Iowa contractor, fully insured for roofing, gutters, and insulation across the Des Moines metro.
Who actually shows up at my house?
Christian, the owner. No receptionist, no call centre, no lead routed to a franchise. The person who answers the phone is the person measuring your roof the next morning, and the number on your handoff paperwork is his personal cell.
When should I book?
Spring runs one to two weeks out for inspections and storm work, summer is the peak build window at four to eight weeks, and fall is the pre-winter push at two to four weeks. Winter is emergency season — leaks, ice dams, and heat loss — with a 24 to 72 hour response. Off-season is often the best time to call: half our best insulation jobs happen when the neighbours are not thinking about it yet.
